AtWize - Because professional experience is valuable!
We are all familiar with the discussions about the shortage of skilled workers, which are putting a strain on the current and future labor market. The baby boomers are retiring in the next few years, exacerbating the difficult labor market situation.
According to the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection, there is currently a shortage of around 630,000 skilled workers in Germany (as of 2022).¹
According to the Federal Statistical Office, around 12.6 million workers will retire by 2036 due to age-related reasons, i.e. almost 30 % of the workforce available on the labor market will then be absent.² Statistically, this will be offset by only around 8.4 million new workers coming on board.³.
By 2023, Germany will have 21 million pensioners. In view of the shortage of skilled workers, the use of their expertise is essential for the economy and society.⁴
Despite this foreseeable and immense gap, we at AtWize have observed that many companies are still running rationalization programs that send older, experienced employees into partial or early retirement earlier. The rationale for this is difficult to understand from our perspective.
But many of these experienced employees still want to continue working, are fit for their age and full of drive. That's what motivated us at AtWize to create a platform where senior experts - those who bring many decades of experience, are motivated and committed - can meet with companies in need of skilled workers.
Our mission is to help those who would like to continue working flexibly and share their experience. That's why we decided to develop the technical basis of the platform and lay the foundation for the digital marketplace in Munich in the spring of 2023.
AtWize as a brand name creates the reference to "advisor" (advisor) and wisdom (from the English "wisdom", "to be wize"), which without polemics is an advantage of decades of experience.
We have made it our mission to give all Senior Experts who want to continue working flexibly a way to do so in the easiest way possible.
And because we believe that the professional potential of all those in the third half of life is immensely helpful in closing the skills shortage.
